Our
prepress workflow is MAC based however we accept both MAC and
PC files for print. We are able to accept PC files because EPS/TIF
files are not platform specific. A MAC .tif
file created in Photoshop can be opened on a PC in Photoshop and
vise-versa. A PC Illustrator EPS file is easily opened on a MAC.
For our PC Corel Draw files, they are prepped as EPS files and
they print just fine.
The only issue that would be problematic is Fonts. To eliminate
this problem we ask all our Illustrator, Corel Draw, Indesign,
Freehand users to convert fonts to "outlines/curves/paths".
The three words mean the same thing. Illustrator
uses "outlines". Corel uses "curves". Freehand
uses "paths".
For PageMaker users we ask you to send us an EPS or PageMaker
files. PC PageMaker users must use standard fonts found on both
MAC and PC platforms. All PageMaker files are opened in Indesign.
So Mac users make sure you stuff all fonts and send all supporting
TIf or EPS images including a PDF proof.
The same should be done for
Quark files (stuff all your fonts and supporting images and send
them to us). Make sure you use CMYK colors in your designs and
not RGB colors.
Important Notes:
1.
Make sure you only use CMYK colors when designing your files.
Download templates
where necessary. For black and white backs.. use shades of "black"
only. (ie. grayscale).
2. Make sure images are in TIF or EPS format when placing them
in Quark, Pagemaker and even Illustrator. Images should be at
300dpi quality in CMYK or grayscale mode.
